Northern CAN Chairman Condemns Killing UniJos 300 Level Student
Northern Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman, Rev Yakubu Pam has called on Plateau State Government and Heads of Security agencies in the state to order for thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the killing of a 300 level student of University of Jos, Rinji Peter Bala by a security agent attached to Military Taskforce (OPSH) in Jos.
Rev Pam in a statement in Jos on Thursday which was made available to newsmen, called for calm by the people of the state, the family of the deceased and the students of the University of Jos despite the unwarranted provocation.
The Northern CAN leader said the law should be allowed to take its course in the matter at hand that happened at a time the people of the state are operating under the harsh weather of lockdown as a result of the dreaded COVID-19 disease .
Rev Pam charged security agencies who are assigned the responsibility of protecting lives and property of the people of the state and Nigeria as a whole to dischage their duties professionally.
According to him, it is regrettable that between the month of March and this month of May, many peace loving Nigerians have been killed by security agents across the country as a result of their unprofessional conduct while on duty posts.
He called on the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai and the Inspector-Ge neral of Police, IGP Adamu to bring their erring officers and men to order.
He called for improved relationship between the civilian population and security agencies across all the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the country.
