Catholic Church hands Nigeria 425 hospitals as isolation centers

Catholic Church hands Nigeria 425 hospitals as isolation centers

The Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has offered all its 425 health facilities across the country as isolation centres for COVID-19.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has disclosed that the Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has offered all its 425 health facilities spread across the country as isolation centres for the treatment of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Nigeria needs all the bed spaces it can get as it strives to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. The Catholic church's donation will come in handy, according to Mustapha.
“As part of efforts to support the states in the establishment of the isolation and treatment centres, I wish to remind our governors that the Catholic Bishops Conference has volunteered all the 425 hospitals and clinics nationwide for adaptation and use as isolation centres,” Mustapha said.
“Governors are encouraged to please approach Catholic Bishops in their states to access these facilities.

“As a further cost-effective measure, I also wish to remind sub-national authorities that the Nigeria Institute of Architects has pledged the pro bono services of their members to modify, design and supervise all COVID-19 related projects nationwide. Again, we urge that this offer be taken up speedily.”
Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly
has also announced that his church would be donating its worship facilities as isolation centers.

Enugu govt. seals Lord’s Chosen headquarters

Enugu govt. seals Lord’s Chosen headquarters

The action, according to ECDTA was to forestall likely casualty from the imminent collapse of the structure as it was built on waterway and has been ravaged by flood.
Speaking on the development, the Executive Chairman of ECTDA, Dr. Josef Onoh, explained that the decision to seal the church was to save lives and property and avoid a recurrence of building collapse in the state.
He revealed that ECDTA has equally directed the leadership of the church to immediately liaise with the state chapter of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to access the level of damage done by the flood and recommend appropriate engineering measures to be applied to fortify the church.
According to him, “There has been a public outcry, especially from residents living at the bank of Ekulu River, G.R.A, adjacent to The Lord’s Chosen Church, over the imminent danger posed by the worship centre, which was built on the waterway, on their property.
“The ECTDA had served “Stop-work” and “Remove” notices on the ongoing construction work at the premises of the church, which were ignored completely until the recent havoc that wrecked the foundation of the church building to the point of imminent collapse”.
He expressed concern over the spate of construction works on the waterway and without building approvals and their imminent dangers and appealed to residents to always adhere strictly to rules and regulations guiding structural development in the state, in order to save lives and avert damage to property.

COVID-19 lockdown: Buhari told to open churches across Nigeria

COVID-19 lockdown: Buhari told to open churches across Nigeria

Senior Pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming Of Jesus Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa has again called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reopen churches for true believers to fellowship and worship.

Giwa, in a statement he personally signed and forwarded to DAILY POST on Tuesday, said only the lukewarm Christians would support the closure of churches.

He said, “I write in my continued effort to recommend that President Muhammadu Buhari should reopen churches across the country.

"It is very unfortunate that most Nigerian Pastors, as well as Pastors around the globe have misused and abused God’s sheep to their selfish and wicked gains.

“This explains why most Nigerians are against reopening churches. I empathize with the poor whose last pennies have been sucked out of their pockets by mercenaries in the name of Pastors. I want to believe that God allowed this ‘man and devil’ imposed pandemic to occur to expose agents of the devil found in His House.

"That said, God’s church still houses true and faithful Christians who fellowship to worship Jehovah, the creator of you, me and the entire universe. He is way bigger than COVID-19 and we need the church open to enable us come together to plead for His mercy and healing.

“There is power in numbers and even a fool understands this very basic tenet. The demons behind COVID-19 understand this basic principle and that is why their first line of action was to clamp down on the church.

“When you scatter God’s sheep, you weaken their ability to jointly call on their father. Creators of COVID-19 use divide and conquer principle to maintain control of people and establish fear in them.

“Not only are God’s sheep denied the opportunity to praise and worship together, they are isolated with no money on which to fend.

"How come the president and his cabinet still meet? How come presidential pets who join in looting the nation’s money still meet with their colleagues to generate rules that are designed to hurt the weak and the poor? Are they immune to coronavirus?

“The House of God remains Holy even when there are thieves called Pastors in them. God is all seeing and all powerful and there is no doubt that He will judge fake Pastors at His appointed time.

“Make no mistake about that! Christians, on the other hand, should know better than giving their money to Pastors who buy private jets, fancy cars, houses, etc. Please review my previous statements against such pastors.

"Again, the House of God is Holy and cannot be compared to individuals. Because this is not a book, I cease this moment to direct those against the opening of God’s church to the old and new Testaments where Our Father and His son explain the essence of Jehovah’s Church.

“God’s House comes first before schools, hospitals, and what have you. President John Magufuli of Tanzania knows this little secret and he refuses to close churches and mosques in his country. If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed you can move any mountain.

“That grain of mustard seed-faith is nurtured and nourished in the House of God. Unfortunately, human treachery believes that schools and other human inventions don’t need God to function (How ridiculous).

“This explains my emphasis on wanting the house of God open for true believers of God. The Psalmist says in 84:10 and I quote,, “Better is one day in your court than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a door keeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked ”

Also, Abraham was able to persuade God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if only he could find ten righteous people in the city. Additionally, the only time Jesus visibly displayed anger in the Bible was when he went to Jerusalem in the temple Court and found people selling and buying goods. In John 2:16, Jesus emphatically said, Stop turning my Father’s House into a market place.

“I say to you, please keep the House of God open for true believers to go in and worship. It was at the temple of God that Jesus made his debut appearance at the age of 12 and He subsequently moved about to other regions.

"I will not banter words with people who have traded their souls for money. Neither will I back down because of the damage caused by fake Pastors.

“I am not fake and will not be bullied into silence. I am able to share my thoughts with you because of God’s Grace. I live because God lives and because He lives, I hope to face tomorrow. Keep the House of God open and the unjustified isolation centers will have no need for existence!.”

Largest Christian Radio Company Faces Financial Crisis Due to Coronavirus Downturn

Largest Christian Radio Company Faces Financial Crisis Due to Coronavirus Downturn

The largest Christian radio company in the United States suffered a major financial blow as ongoing industry challenges collided with the economic impact of COVID-19.

Salem Media Group reaches an estimated 298 million weekly listeners on 3,100 stations branded as The Fish, The Answer, Faith Talk, and more. The megabroadcaster rose to dominance with a revenue model that protected it from some of the ad volatility suffered by its secular counterparts, but that hasn’t been enough in this recent downturn.

Salem’s share price has dropped from a high of about $30 in 2004 to about $6 in 2018 and to 80 cents on Monday. The company’s investment value has been downgraded to “poor quality” and “high risk” by Moody’s, a top credit ratings agency.

On Tuesday the board of directors announced that it would temporarily suspend quarterly payments of dividends to shareholders. The top executives’ salaries were cut by 10 percent.

Financial analyst Michael Kupinski, who specializes in media and entertainment companies, wrote that he expects Salem to “weather the storm,” but not without taking drastic measures. According to Kupinski, that could include “asset sales and aggressive cost cutting,” such as selling off some of the 100 stations owned by Salem or laying off some of its more than 1,400 employees.

Salem did not respond to Christianity Today’s requests for comment. In its most recent financial filing, vice president and chief financial officer Evan Masyr wrote that “it is impossible to predict the total impact that the pandemic will have on our business.”

Salem airs religious programing from teachers such as Chuck Swindoll, John MacArthur, Tony Evans, Eric Metaxas, and the late J. Vernon McGee, as well as contemporary Christian music and conservative political commentary from Sean Hannity, Hugh Hewitt, Mike Gallagher, and Sebastian Gorka.

Christian radio has long been seen as more financially stable because of its intimate relationship with listeners and a business model pioneered by Salem to sell airtime to churches and ministries to broadcast their own recordings.

Traditional radio stations make about 95 percent of their income from advertising. Christian radio companies sell spots to advertisers, but also make money from selling “block programming” to preachers who want reliable access to the airwaves.

In 2019, Salem netted $48.5 million from sales of block programing to David Jeremiah, Charles Stanley, Focus on the Family, and other major Christian ministries. The company made an additional $30.5 million from block programming sales to local churches and ministries. The same year, Salem made $16.4 million from national advertising and $51.8 million from local advertising, financial records show.

But with the economic impact of the pandemic, the company saw declines in both advertising and block programming sales. Experts expect a 40-percent decline in radio ad revenue and a drop in charitable giving that puts pressure on churches and ministries to cut back on their spending.

Salem notified shareholders that COVID-19 was going to impact profits at the end of March.

Though revenue is down, the size of the audience has grown since the start of the pandemic. More than a quarter of Americans say they are listening to more radio because of COVID-19, according to market research from the Nielsen Corporation. In the same survey, 60 percent said they trusted radio to give them reliable information and connect them to their communities.

That’s especially true for Christian outlets, according to Jennifer Epperson, a member of the National Religious Broadcasters board of directors and chair of its radio committee.

“People need facts, but they can get fact fatigue, so they want comfort,” said Epperson, a 30-year veteran in the industry. “With the Christian radio station, you can do both.”

Salem was founded by Edward Atsinger III and Stuart Epperson (distantly and indirectly related to Jennifer Epperson). The two met at Bob Jones University and then moved to California and bought a radio station in Oxnard. The station gave them access to the Los Angeles market, the second-largest radio audience in the country.

According to a Forbes profile, Atsinger and Epperson realized that with a market that big, they wouldn’t have to pay preachers to record programs they could broadcast. Preachers would pay for access to their giant pulpit. And they could continue to produce their own programs and sell advertising too.

Salem’s reach became clear in 1988, when one LA station started calling for a protest of Martin Scorsese’s new movie, The Last Temptation of Christ, which many conservative Christians found offensive. So many people showed up at the entrance of MCA Universal Studios that the protest shut down the highway.

By the early 2000s, Salem stations reached an audience of about 100 million listeners, and they were major players in the largest markets across the country, giving Christian preachers access to loyal listeners in major metro areas. The company went public and expanded into conservative talk radio.

Salem dominated Christian radio and set industry standards. Other Christians in the industry sometimes complained about Salem’s emphasis on business and accused the company of treating nonprofit radio ministries and smaller Christian companies as rivals rather than co-laborers for the gospel. Some Christians leaders also complained about Salem’s outsized influence on evangelicals—criticizing the company for promoting right-wing politics, contemporary worship music, and self-help theology.

The company’s share price peaked in 2004 and has been on a downward trajectory since then as the media market has evolved and radio has had to compete with podcasts, streaming music, and other new media. Salem has diversified, expanding into online content and publishing, and found ways to cut costs. In 2019, Salem brought in $265 million. The company entered 2020 expecting a slight decrease in revenue, before the market was disrupted by the pandemic.

Despite the recent downturn, the founders of Salem are investing more in the company. Financial records show that since the beginning of March, Atsinger has acquired more than 170,000 additional shares of Salem stock, and Stuart Epperson more than 300,000.

Jennifer Epperson said there is reason to be optimistic about the future of Christian radio, despite the current crisis.

“I don’t think radio is going away anytime soon,” she said. “Radio is an intensely personal medium. You can hear someone breathing with that microphone. And someone that close—that’s a friend. … As a radio host you welcome people with your tone and walk along with your listener as a friend, even through disaster and COVID. You really do life together, and that’s the beauty of radio.”

Oyedepo makes revelation about COVID-19 vaccine

Oyedepo makes revelation about COVID-19 vaccine

Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, has kicked against the bill to make COVID-19 vaccines compulsory in Nigeria.

DAILY POST had reported that the bill was co-sponsored by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, Reps Pascal Obi and Tanko Sununu.

Gbajabiamila’s Bill has since generated a lot of controversies, with critics saying that some of the provisions in the bill appear “draconian.”

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) had also alleged that lawmakers had been offered $10million to pass the Bill.

Speaking at the Church communion live broadcast , Oyedepo said gang-up agents of the devil were trying to bring a flood of evil upon humanity.

He further stated that something evil was being schemed by some individuals and that people perpetrating it don’t know why.

He said, “You must take a vaccine! Why will you force me to take a vaccine? For what?

“You don’t take vaccines, you don’t go outside the country! How? Where is it coming from?

He said, “You must take a vaccine! Why will you force me to take a vaccine? For what?

“You don’t take vaccines, you don’t go outside the country! How? Where is it coming from?

The cleric, however, maintained that anything that troubled God’s agenda will be troubled, adding that his outcry over the closure of churches was for the kingdom of God.

“It’s over!! Whatever troubles God’s agenda will be troubled. The most valuable asset to God is the human life.

“If you see me screaming and crying: it’s for the Kingdom, absolutely so. You mean you keep God’s people, block their access to spiritual food for 4 weeks, 5 weeks, 6 weeks, 7 weeks and you are going to the market, buying and eating with 10 fingers. You kept students from school.

“This is an imported virus, how has it become our own? Why must we now have it?

“There is something going on here! Something evil is being schemed by some individuals and those who are perpetrating it don’t even know,” he further stated.

Armed attacks on five Christian villages leave 25 dead

Armed attacks on five Christian villages leave 25 dead

Five people were killed and one was injured when armed men of Fulani origin attacked Makyali village in Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna state, Nigeria, in the early hours of 13 May.
Luka Paymaster, 80, Yaki Luka, 40, Francis Daniel, 37, Akilu Aruwa, 45 and Laraba Danmori, 70, died in the attack, which began at around 6.30am. The attack occurred hours after Fulani assailants had murdered a man and his wife in Katul village on the evening of 12 May.
Both villages are located along the Kaduna-Kachia road, and the killings occurred despite the imposition of a Covid-19 related lockdown, and a military presence in the area.
Also on 12 May, 53-year-old Bomboi Abinfada was killed and one person was injured during an attack on Idanu-Doka village at around 4pm, and another person was injured in an assault on Ungwan Rana-Doka village.
The attacks on Katul, Idanu-Doka and Ungwan Rana-Doka occurred on the same day that victims of an armed assault by Fulani assailants on the Gona Rogo community were buried in a mass grave. On 11 May at least seventeen people were killed, six were injured, food stores were destroyed, and homes burnt during an attack on the predominantly Baptist community that began at 11.30pm. Among the victims was the entire family of Jonathan Yakubu, 40, who was hacked to death along with his wife Sheba Yakubu, 32, and their children Patience, 13, Revelation, 6, and Rejoice, 4. Seven of the victims were minors.
According to the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) one of the survivors is a six-month old baby who was hit in the head by the bullet that killed his mother. He was initially taken to a nearby hospital, where the bullet was removed, and was subsequently transferred to the state capital for further treatment. Survivors informed SOKAPU that a neighbouring Fulani community which had been in the area for 40 years quietly left the night before the attack occurred.
These attacks are the latest in a series of coordinated assaults on Christian communities in the southern part of Kaduna state by armed assailants of Fulani origin which continue despite the imposition of a Covid-19 related lockdown. CSW Nigeria has documented 11 attacks by Fulani militia across 5 LGAs between the time a total lockdown came into effect on 25 March, and the morning of 12 May. 38 people had been killed and around 133 houses destroyed in the attacks launched within that timeframe.
Communities in neighbouring Plateau state are experiencing similar organised attacks during lockdown. For example, on 5 May, three armed assailants reportedly of Fulani origin, broke into the home of Rev. Bayo James Famonure, headmaster of Messiah College and leader of Calvary Mission (CAPRO) and Agape Missions, in Gana Ropp, Barkin Ladi LGA and shot him in the forehead and leg. His wife Naomi was shot in the back, and their sons Adua'a and Victor were shot in the feet. All are reported to be recovering well.
Following the attack in Gona Rogo, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), a civil rights advocacy organisation, called for the resignation or removal of Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu, and the arrest and prosecution of the Fulani assailants. HURIWA also called on the Kaduna state and federal governments to supply relief materials to survivors as a matter of urgency, and to strengthen security in Kajuru LGA, adding that ineffective action to end the attacks had emboldened the perpetrators. The organisation expressed fears of impending anarchy if no effective action is taken to end the attacks, "as the victims may be left with no option than to take the law into their own hands."
CSW's Chief Executive Mervyn Thomas said: "We condemn these deplorable acts of violence against innocent civilians, and are deeply perplexed they continue to occur, even in an area where security is already deployed. Almost daily we receive reports of horrific armed assaults on vulnerable Christian communities which appear to remain unaddressed. The impunity with which perpetrators are able to launch these attacks, is unacceptable. It is either a sign of an unwillingness to protect these communities on account of their religion or belief, or a telling indictment of the government's inability to fulfil its primary purpose of securing the lives and livelihoods of Nigerian citizens. We call on the authorities both at state and federal levels to take visible and immediate steps to protect these communities and to pursue, disarm, arrest and prosecute the assailants. These attacks, which also occur in the south of the country, gravely threaten the unity and security of this multi faith and multi-ethnic nation at a time when Nigeria is already dealing with terrorist insurgencies, the collapsing oil price and the fallout of the Covid-19 Pandemic. If left unaddressed, they could eventually spark a conflagration that will be extremely difficult to contain."

Christian woman shot

Lami David was in her kitchen preparing dinner for her family in north-central Nigeria on Thursday evening (May 7) when two Muslim Fulani herdsmen broke into her home and shot her and her mother-in-law, sources said.
The 32-year-old mother of four had her 2-year-old wrapped on her back in her home in predominantly Christian Nkietohu village, Plateau state, when she heard the first shots in the room where her mother-in-law, 60-year-old Elizabeth (Lisa) Nchu, was resting, according to community leader Josiah Zongo.
Her mother-in-law was shot in the shoulder, and David was then shot in her chest and legs, Zongo said.
“The woman was shot with her baby on her back – the child was not hurt as well as other children were not,” Zongo told Morning Star News. “The woman was found lying in a pool of blood behind the house where she’d tried to run away from the gunmen. She fell down because of the shot. She was also heard saying it was the Fulani herdsmen who came from Rafin Bauna village, a nearby Hausa/Fulani community.”
Her husband, who was in his room with the other three children at the time of the attack, escaped, Zongo said. The family was sheltering in their home at 7:45 p.m. due to a curfew to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
“The gunmen also followed the man as he ran for his life but could not get him,” he said
Mrs. David was shot three times, and because of the critical nature of her injuries was receiving treatment at Bingham University Teaching Hospital (Jankwano), in Jos; Nchu was being treated at Enos Hospital, Miango, Bassa County, sources said.
The Roman Catholic family belongs to the area’s Church of Immaculate Conception, local resident Patience Moses said. She said David’s other children are ages 12, 8 and 5.
When herdsmen come in small numbers they are increasingly targeting one or two homes, she said.
“The herdsmen usually attack a house they first see as they emerge from surrounding bushes,” Moses told Morning Star News. “If they’re few, they attack one or two houses and then retreat, but if they’re a large group, the herdsmen proceed to attack an entire village.”
The attack in Nkietohu village comes on the heels of similar attacks in Miango and Kwall Districts of Bassa County by Muslim Fulani herdsmen using guerrilla tactics on Christian communities.
In the past three months, armed Fulani herdsmen and bandits have targeted Christian communities in what appears to be “well-planned and calculated efforts geared towards exterminating them,” said Tom Chiahemen, spokesman for advocacy group the Christian Rights Agenda (CRA), in a press statement.
“In the last few years, no fewer than 60 villages and communities have been displaced in Plateau state, taken over and renamed by Fulani herdsmen with such impunity,” Chiahemen said.

'GENOCIDE'

The Christian communities have been left defenseless as there seems to have been no genuine effort by authorities to protect them, end the killings and return seized lands to them, Chiahemen said.
The CRA is worried by the seeming silence of Nigeria’s President, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, who as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces has not only failed to protect the Christian communities but has remained silent over these killings,” he said. “To date, no Fulani herdsmen have been arrested and prosecuted over the killings, a development that has helped to embolden them.”
Leaders of the CRA are concerned that the assailants have intensified attacks in recent weeks during the lockdown and restriction of movement due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Chiahemen said.
The CRA called on the international community, especially the United Nations, European Union, the governments of the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, and the International Criminal Court “to take note of the ongoing genocide against Christians in Nigeria.”

GOD'S PLAN

GOD’S PLAN
Jeremiah 29:11
God’s plans are his set of intentions towards us the Bible says they’re of good not of evil to bring us to an expected end.
Any building to be built strong, firm and lasting must have a good plan, Through the wondrous work of creation God has proved to be the master planner having none of His plans ever falter.
Concerning you is a plan that won’t falter a plan that has but one result: Expected End (An end with fulfillment and Greatness).
The requirement to access God’s plan is that you simply stand at the cross road and ask for the good path then walk therein, the only problem is many have decided not to walk therein preferring rather to do guess work in the matter of destiny not knowing expected End is only captured in God’s plan.
I’d like to say everyone was born to be great but very few get that close because largely instead of seeking God’s plan we rather try and keep failing. (The technology of seeking God is no longer popular)
One joyful thing about God’s plan is it is never too early nor too late to walk in it, perhaps you’re thinking of all the lost years you’ve accumulated through guess work(trial and error) and perhaps you’re wondering how you’ll still arrive at Expected End with such a trail of looses, let me  inform you citing this Example:
A GPS device can give directions to a destination you’ve  never been to and just in case you wander off or you stay off the prescribed route the GPS gives you and you finally decide to embark on your destination the GPS will calculate a fresh route for you to yet still reach your destination from where you are currently not where you left off.
In our case God is like the GPS device ensuring that you never miss your destination
So long as you look to Him he’ll make adequate arrangements for you to reach Destiny.

Your destination in this case is Expected End (God’s plan for every man born).

Lose Yourself

Lose yourself

Take up your Cross and Follow
Mark  8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
if anyone would after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
                                               Jesus (NIV)
There are certain things that comprise and make you the person you currently are, things like your Environment, Privileges, Life experiences, exposure, association, believe system etc.
These things, even more greatly affect and make you who you are on the earth realm. Switch it up to the dimension of the spirit, God's kingdom precisely then you'll find out that those things that matter allot in the physical have no weight in God's kingdom unless they are in line with God's plan.
who you are in God's kingdom is not determined by your physical Environment, whether you were born in one slump in Sokoto or you you reside on Victoria island with a mansion for a house is not a factor in that kingdom,
Whether you have a PhD in all science courses or you're an unschooled fisherman from the riverine area of Kaduna state doesn't count in God's kingdom,
what then matters in God's kingdom?
what then is a factor in that kingdom?
what then counts in God's kingdom?
I'll tell you: what counts, matters and is a factor
it is that you are in God's will (line, purpose, plan) by the enablement of the Holy Spirit you're following as outlined (Authored and finished) by Jesus,
In order to do that Today Jesus counsels us to deny ourselves, deny our environment, our backgrounds and their limitations, like Moses deny Privileges to be who God says we'll be, deny those experiences that make us look at life in a certain kind of way and so the self denial continues
now that's all, for after denying ourselves we must then sentence ourselves to life by the cross which speaks death to anything contrary to God's plan for you.
this is the root of Apostle Paul's word's "I die to myself daily".
(A man subjected to a life of the cross has no ties with this world, everything he has or pursues he does in the spirit)
Only then will we be alive in God's kingdom.

Nigerian Human Rights Demand Arrest Of Prophet Odumeje Over Abuse Of National Currency

Nigerian Human Rights Demand Arrest Of Prophet Odumeje Over Abuse Of National Currency

HURIWA wants Prophet Odumeje arrested over abuse of national currency.

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, to order the arrest of the controversial Onitsha based Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere popularly known as Odumeje.
In a statement on Sunday, HURIWA accused Odumeje of serial abuses of the Nigerian Naira and other currencies during his public ceremonies in Onitsha.
The National Coordinator Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director, Zainab Yusuf said it had resolved to write officially to the Minister of Finance, CBN governor and President Muhammadu Buhari to implore them to defend the naira against global defacing of the naira notes.
HURIWA noted that Odumeje, who also calls himself many other different names such as ‘the liquid metal,’ and ‘Indarbosky,’ has contributed significantly to bringing global opprobrium “to our national currency and has seriously indicted the Federal Government as unwilling to defend the Naira even when the constitution recognises that the law is no respecter of person or authority. ”
"We have watched with disappointments as this self-professed prophet Odumuje kept abusing and defacing the national currency and both the Police and the CBN have failed for many months to stamp their authorities and prosecute these serial abusers of the national currency,”the statement reads.
"We ask the CBN to ensure that that the legal provisions that should have protected the naira notes from abuse which are today being observed more in the breach than in compliance should be reversed."
It is true as observed recently by a patriotic citizen that quite disappointingly, CBN and the security agencies have had their eyes glue-closed while the nation and its inhabitants suffer from preventable abuses of the national currency.
Just as we reaffirm and re-echo the fact as stated by an observer that as it were, the law against abuse of naira has been in place for over a decade, yet the CBN is still at the stage of “awareness creation” and “sensitization” of the citizens whereas religious houses are openly celebrating the abuses of the national currency which is a legal tender that ought to be respected by the citizens and everyone in Nigeria.”
HURIWA recalled that according to Section 21(3) of CBN Act 2007 “spraying of, dancing or matching on the Naira or any note issued by the Bank (CBN) during social occasions or otherwise howsoever shall constitute abuse and defacing of the Naira or such note and shall be punishable under Sub-section 1 of this section.”
Also in 2018, the CBN organized a “CBN FAIR” in Calabar where it used the opportunity to create awareness and sensitize the public on the “appropriate use” of the Naira, Nigeria’s legal tender notes.
CBN, also “cautioned Nigerians against abusing the Naira notes, warning that anyone caught would risk six months imprisonment or pay a fine of N50,000.”
HURIWA, has, therefore, asked the CBN to take action rather than continue in propaganda and the impression that the bank is working to protect the integrity of the national currency.

Church feeds less-privileged in Abuja

The Area Headquarters of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), His Unity Sanctuary, Kubwa, Abuja, has embarked on a community feeding outreach to support the indigent and less privileged in the church community.
The area pastor, Yemi Ayodele, said the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-induced lockdown order hit a lot of Nigerians hard in many quarters and things might likely not get better in a few weeks from now, as a lot of people lost their means of livelihood.

According to him, part of the Christian Social Responsibility of the church in times like this is to rise and support the indigent.

He revealed that to mitigate the hardship, they embarked on a feeding outreach, which started on April 8.

Ayodele said they would hold the feeding programme thrice weekly in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

At each feeding outreach, which holds on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, over 200 people are catered for, he revealed.

CRCN condemns Tiv, Ichen crisis in Taraba

CRCN condemns Tiv, Ichen crisis in Taraba

The Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria (CRCN)Taraba, Sunday condemned  the ongoing  killings  between the Tiv and Ichen tribe in Donga local area of the state.

President of Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria, Rev Dr Caleb O.S Ahima, while briefing journalists in Jalingo, lamented that the communities in Donga LG were passing through difficult time.

He stressed that the church was unhappy with the CRISIS between the two peoples that once lived happily, carrying out economic activities.

The CRCN president, who was represented by vice president of the church, Rev Dr. Isaiah Magaji Jirapye, expressed worried that the church was sad over the crisis.

He noted that at a time the world is facing the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging communities, it was surprising that people of the faith should get involved in destroying lives and properties worth millions of naira.

“We are supposed to be vigilant in prayers and supporting each other in accordance with the teaching of the scriptures, which outlines killings and shedding of blood as a sin against God.

“The church is particularly worried because the raining season has just commenced and people are expected to be in the farm and not to be chasing each other with arms. The situation portends serious danger if farmers do not go to farm to produce food for the society,” he said.

He appealed to the two warring parties to as a matter of urgency lay down their arms and embrace peace, calling on the stakeholders of the two tribes to ensure immediate end to hostilities.

COVID-19: CAN scribe calls for reopening of churches

COVID-19: CAN scribe calls for reopening of churches

General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Barr Joseph Daramola has called for reopening of churches closed over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Daramola said it was wrong of government authorities to continue closing churches when other aspects of national life have started taking shape.
Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka Winners’ Chapel International, David Oyedepo, had questioned the continuous closure of churches over the coronavirus pandemic, alleging some ulterior motives.
Oyedepo, who spoke during the Covenant Hour of Prayer Programme last Wednesday, said if markets could be opened for six hours, there was no reason churches should not be opened for two hours.
The revered cleric said he believed there was a gang up against the growth of the church in the country.
Reacting to the development, Daramola who spoke with The Nation on telephone said churches can still maintain social distancing while conducting services.
He said government cannot separate the religious environment from that of the economy, adding that churches are even more orderly than markets.
Daramola said: “Because if you are looking at the economic aspect and because of that you have open a small window then it should extended to the religious aspect. Everybody, have turned to God on this COVID-19 issue. And the voice of the people is the voice of God. When people are shouting and calling God in their house is good but there is a central place of worship approved by government. So why do you have to lock it down.
“For anybody who is reasonable, will not throw away what Bishop Oyedepo has said. At the same time we have to balance the situation.
“I mean it is very logical if they said markets should open there is warning even when you are going to the market.
“You have to wear nose mask, and maintain certain distance which is impossible at a market place.
“Church can still maintain social distancing. If the church service is two hours before, there is no reason the church cannot make it one hour. T
“They will now spread services to follow the social distancing order. This is my advice. You cannot divorce the religious environment from the economic environment.
“There should be no total lockout of churches and Mosques. We can regulate it. All those government officials that are talking to us about it, they put on masks”.

Pastor Tunde Bakare Replies Pastors Criticising Nigerian Govt For Closing Down Churches

Pastor Tunde Bakare Replies Pastors Criticising Nigerian Govt For Closing Down Churches

Pastor Tunde Bakare,Founder and Senior Pastor, Citadel Global Community Church, CGCC has attacked his Colleagues for attacking the government for not opening Churches.

Bakare, on Sunday said it was wrong for church leaders to be criticising the governments at this time rather than helping to fight Coronavirus.

Though he did not mention the names of the church leaders,it was apparent those he was referring to...

“I will like to react to the lamentation of some people within the church over closure of churches, that while markets and hospitals are allowed to open Churches are not allow to operate.

“I am so glad not only churches are prevented from congregating, the mosques also are locked down. The government ordered the markets to open and to operate for a few days to prevent hunger because the palliatives by the government cannot go to every citizens in their homes right now.

“Let the church live and support the government rather than condemning them in this arduous task. We should thank God that there is no distance in the spirit, lockdown or no lockdown and that the church is not the building but the body of Christ,” he said.
“They must be prepared to offer some of their halls to government as isolation centres in support of the government. I recommend that our church halls be made available to government as isolation centres and those of us who could afford it, should be there to support the government. I am not suggesting what we are not prepared to do, we have already done that,”

WHY BAKARE REACTED

One popular preacher a few days ago lashed out at Church leaders who agreed with the government to shutdown churches to halt the spread of Coronavirus, saying they are not true Christians.
He said the church leaders should have told the government to give them time to pray and consult with their congregation before thinking of closing churches.

Another one berated the government for closing churches and allowed markets to open. “There should be opening of the churches around the world. Sir, there is something wrong for people to be allowed to be in the market for six hours and can’t be in Church for two hours.

“It is an upside down ways of looking at things, while quoting Ecclesiastic 4:13 which said “Better is a poor and wise child than an old foolish king who will no more be admonished.”

“Which one is more orderly, the market or the church? I can smell a rat, the Lord spoke to me about it yesterday. Behind all this, how do we stop the church from exploding?”

GOD HAS SOMETHING TO SAY

If we pay serious attention to Him you'll discover That God Has Something To Say,
The only problem is we've not been attentive sufficiently.
Admist life on this plain of existence, admist the runnings too and fro just to make ends meet ensuring life keeps moving, little to no time is spent by Christians in knowing what God has to say.
we often times forget that all we need or will ever need partianing life and Godliness has been provided for by God, our mechanisms for accessing them are captured all in God's word in other words they are captured in what God Has To Say).
This ignorance has made many, unfortunately even Gospel ministers scouring for that which satisfy not when the actual thing we should be doing is seeking for what God is saying collectively as well as personally.
If only you would stop all the trail and error, stop the work with no results then look up to God in prayer you'll then discover That God Has Something To Say concerning everything about you and He wants you to know those things He's saying, for it is the working of what He has said that guarantees greatness.
Bow your head now and ask God to help you always to seek His counsel every time concerning everything.

"Knowledge and understanding are good wisdom is better but the best of all is that you're marvelously helped of God"

Enugu govt to lift ban on religious gatherings on May 10

Enugu govt to lift ban on religious gatherings on May 10

Enugu State chapter, has said that normal services will resume in churches in the state on May 10.
The council said that this was part of the agreements reached with the state government on Thursday.
A statement issued in Enugu by Most. Rev. Christopher Ede, the state Chairman of CCN, said that church worship services would resume in all churches across the state on that day.
Ede, who is the Archbishop of Enugu Methodist Church Nigeria, said that each denomination must observe all the safety protocols on public gatherings, as recommended by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other government guidelines.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state government had, on March 31, suspended all religious and social gatherings, after announcing a partial lockdown, occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.
Also on May 4, the state government announced a gradual and partial ease of the lockdown, which permitted certain categories of traders to reopen their shops, but excluded churches and other places of worship.
Ede said: “All member-churches of the CCN, Enugu State, are hereby notified that we have reached an agreement with the governor on the resumption of public worships, with effect from May 10 .”
He, however, said that such gatherings must observe social distancing protocol, with not more than 20 persons meeting in a church hall at a given time.
The cleric urged all denominations to keep to the rules of hygiene, such as washing of hands, use of hand sanitiser and face masks by worshipers.
“Churches should make each service short and ensure that members are sensitised during the period of preaching on how to protect themselves from the virus.
“No church is permitted to exceed noon on each worship day and you are at liberty to hold many sessions of worship within the specified time,” he said.
Ede said that religious activities involving large congregations were permitted only on Sundays.
“We shall continue periodic review of the situation with the governor to do what is best for the safety of the people at each time.
“Ministers and pastors are to take personal responsibility of making sure that the rules are obeyed, as any escalation of the virus may lead to another complete lockdown in the state,” Ede said.

COVID-19: Churches maintain better social distancing than markets, banks— Pastors

COVID-19: Churches maintain better social distancing than markets, banks— Pastors Urge Govt To Reopen Worship Centres

The government’s decision to relax the lockdown by allowing some markets, businesses and commercial transporters to operate, while others, including the religious sector, remain shut, has ignited reactions from some pastors. They are calling on government to reopen churches to enable the faithful commune with their Creator.

The President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, said worshippers are eager to gather for spiritual bonding.

“Christians that have been used to going to church look forward to when they can resume church,” he explained. “While we appreciate government’s concerns and the solidarity shown by churches to shutdown for over seven weeks, the church could keep better social distancing than markets, banks and motor parks. We can ensure that people who come to the church sanitise and wash their hands.

We just kept quiet because we have to do the government’s bidding.” He noted that the Church is a disciplined organisation and does not pull larger crowds than markets.

The former General Secretary of Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Abuja, Rev. Father Ralph Madu said the Catholic Church was willing to reopen, and that the agitation to reopen churches is normal.

He said: “You know it’s a normal human behaviour, especially when there is some prohibition, to try to get out of it. We believe that with God’s intervention, we will survive the pandemic. So, people are eager to come together and pray. The government should understand there is nothing wrong, when people express their views on some issues.

“Even though people have been praying individually, but coming together to pray strengthens their faith, as well as give them the courage in the fight against COVID-19.”

He, however, cautioned the agitators, saying going against health experts’ advice could backfire. But the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminence, Dr. Samson Ayokunle, differed in his view on the issue.

While acknowledging that worshipping together is a biblical injunction, he argued that the agitation for a reopening is premature. He said: “What led to the suspension of large gatherings was the COVID-19 pandemic, which has, today, infected about three million people globally and led to the death of thousands of people. The Coronavirus is highly contagious and deadly. A wise person will not insist on going back to fellowship together in large gatherings now, because the rate of daily infection is now higher than when the government first placed restrictions on large gatherings. What is the wisdom in rushing back to church or mosque for worship? Is it to go and get more people infected?

“I urge church leaders to be law-abiding and resist the temptation to rush back to church and worship in large congregations now. With our prayers and government’s actions, we will soon overcome this terrible scourge in Jesus’ name. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬”

The General Overseer of Revival Assembly Church, Apostle Anselm Madubuko said there’s nothing like face-to-face fellowship, when the atmosphere is right. He noted that those calling for reopening of churches had their reasons.

“People are hearing God’s word, which is the important thing,” he said. “I don’t think there should be any rush. After all, we’ve been in this condition since six weeks now. Maybe those calling for reopening of churches are missing their members. But what some people are asking is, why should markets be opened and churches closed?

“The church is just for two hours, while markets open for 10 hours. If government said everybody should shut down, I wouldn’t have had any problem with that. “
